Swatch × Audemars Piguet Royal Pop Collection Brings the Royal Oak Into the World of Pocket Watches

Ivan May 13, 2026 3 min read

When Swatch first introduced the MoonSwatch collaboration with Omega, the watch world completely exploded. Suddenly, people who never cared about watches were lining up outside Swatch stores, while collectors debated whether these playful collaborations were genius or madness.

Then came the Blancpain collaboration with the Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection, proving the MoonSwatch was not just a one-time phenomenon.

Annnnd now, here we go again baby!!!! This time teaming up with Audemars Piguet for one of the boldest collaborations yet: the new Royal Pop Collection, officially releasing on May 16.

And honestly, nobody expected this direction.

The Royal Oak, Reimagined

Instead of turning the iconic Royal Oak into a traditional wristwatch, Swatch decided to transform it into a colorful modular pocket watch inspired by the brand’s vintage POP collection. At first glance, the Royal Oak DNA is instantly recognizable.

You still get the octagonal bezel with eight visible screws, the famous tapisserie dial texture, and the overall sporty luxury silhouette that made the Royal Oak one of the most influential watch designs ever created since its debut in 1972.

But now, everything feels more playful.

Bright colors, oversized proportions, and a completely different wearing experience push this collaboration into a category of its own.

Not Just a Pocket Watch

One of the most interesting things about the Royal Pop Collection is how versatile it actually is.

Swatch designed these watches to be worn in different ways — around the neck, attached to a bag, inside a pocket, or even strapped onto the wrist in the most ridiculous way possible. And surprisingly… some people are already doing exactly that online.

The collection clearly embraces fun over seriousness, which honestly feels very Swatch.

Eight Bold Colorways

The collection includes several colorful references, each with its own personality.

Some of the standout models include the vibrant pink-and-yellow OTG ROZ, the icy blue LAN BA, the clean white HUIT BLANC, and the deep blue ORENJI HACHI that has quickly become a fan favorite online.

Love them or hate them, they definitely don’t look boring.

OTG ROZ – CHF 375
LAN BA – CHF 375
HUIT BLANC – CHF 300
OTTO ROSSO – CHF 300
BLAUE ACHT – CHF 300
OCHO NEGRO – CHF 300
ORENJI HACHI – CHF 300
GREEN EIGHT – CHF 300

The Hype Has Already Started

Just like the MoonSwatch and Blancpain releases before it, the Royal Pop Collection is already generating massive hype online days before launch.

People have reportedly started camping outside selected Swatch stores even before release day, which honestly says everything about how powerful these collaborations have become.

Swatch confirmed that the Bioceramic Royal Pop Collection will only be available at selected Swatch stores worldwide starting May 16, with purchases limited to one watch per person, per store, per day.

And after Omega, Blancpain, and now Audemars Piguet, the biggest question now is simple:

Who’s next?

I like watches — a lot. When I’m not geeking out over dials, bezels, and movements, I’m probably getting lost in an Xbox session, hopping on a plane to somewhere new, or hunting down my next favorite meal.
