Introducing the Perrelet Weekend GMT Atlas

The whole world, hand-painted onto a single dial.

This one has been a long time coming. It is our very first watch with Perrelet, and a debut like that should say something, so we decided to paint the whole world onto the dial.

It started with the watch itself. The Weekend GMT is a traveler’s watch, built for people who live on two clocks at once, keeping one eye on home while the day carries them somewhere else entirely. We kept coming back to that feeling. Calling home when it is already night there. Catching a sunrise the people you love will not wake up to for hours. The quiet pull of being in two places at the same time. We wanted the dial to hold all of it, so we gave it a compass and sent it around the world.

A Day Around the World

Look closely and the dial is really a little map. Right at the center sits a compass rose, and our artists hand-painted the world in a ring around it. A scarlet macaw watches from a rainforest canopy. Palms lean over a warm shore. Snow-blue peaks rise under a low sun, and further along the pyramids stand gold against the desert while a dolphin breaks the surface of the ocean. Every scene is a different corner of the planet, a different climate, a different hour of the day, all sharing one face.

The best part is how the painting and the watch say the same thing. That red-tipped hand sweeping the 24-hour ring is the GMT hand, and it tracks a second time zone as it goes. So while you read the hour where you are standing, the art quietly reminds you that somewhere out there the sun is rising over a jungle or slipping behind a mountain. It is a watch about being in two places at once, and for once you can actually see it.

The Watch Underneath

We did not want the mechanics to be an afterthought, and with Perrelet they never could be. This is a proper watchmaking house, not a brand borrowing someone else’s engine. Perrelet builds its own movements in-house, and the Weekend GMT runs on one of them, the automatic Caliber P-401. It winds itself from the way you move through your day, keeps going for around 42 hours when you set it down, and you can watch the rotor spinning through the open caseback. There is real substance under the art, which is exactly how it should be.

The rest is quietly done well. A slim 39mm steel case that disappears under a cuff, a bracelet that matches it, and a sapphire crystal keeping the painting safe. It feels like a watch made to be worn on the move, which is the whole idea.
