I have always had a soft spot for graffiti. Not the tag someone scribbles on a bus seat, but the real thing. The walls people pass every day without noticing, layered with years of color and names and messages, where what looks like a mess up close is actually a conversation happening in slow motion.
The official word for it is vandalism. I have never quite agreed with that. So when we started this project, that is the name we kept.
The Casio G-Shock Vandalism is exactly what it sounds like. We took a tough G-Shock and let the street have it, from the center of the dial to the tip of the strap. Every surface is covered. Nothing was left clean, and honestly, that was the whole point.
The Wall on Your Wrist
The first time I saw a finished piece, I just stood there reading it. That is the thing about this dial. You do not glance at it and move on, you get pulled in.
There are tags and slogans layered over each other in colors that were never meant to match. A little crown sits near the top. A grinning face hides in the corner. The word VANDALISM runs across the middle, and the hour markers are bright, clashing blocks that look dipped straight into a spray can. Every time I look, I find something I missed before.
None of it is accidental, even though it is designed to feel that way. Our artists hand-paint every dial, so no two ever come out exactly the same. Small shifts in the line and the color mean the one on your wrist is genuinely yours. From the dial, the graffiti spills onto the bezel and strap, printed in UV so it holds its color no matter how hard you wear it.
The Watch Underneath
Here is the part I care about. This is not a fragile thing you keep in a box. Under all that color is a real Casio G-Shock GA-2100, one of the toughest watches out there, and that was a deliberate choice. Street art lives outside, exposed to everything. The watch that carries it should be able to do the same.
It is slim, light at just 51 grams, and the octagonal case gives the artwork room to breathe without crowding the time. Inside, the Casio 5611 module runs the hands and a digital display, a hand shift feature swings the hands out of the way when you want a clear read, and with mineral glass and 20 ATM of water resistance, you really can wear it anywhere. Drop it, splash it, live in it. It was built for that.
