A Playful Take on a Classic Watch
The Bulova Super Seville Risky Riches transforms a well-known silhouette into a lively piece of wearable art. The retro TV-shaped case provides the perfect frame for a colorful, hand-painted dial that immediately stands out on the wrist.
The scene is full of motion and energy, with flying banknotes and tumbling coins bringing the dial to life. It’s bold, eye-catching, and designed to spark conversation, while still remaining easy to wear every day.
This is not a watch that tries to be serious or formal. Instead, it celebrates confidence, personality, and the joy of taking a chance.
The Inspiration Behind Risky Riches
The inspiration behind the Risky Riches dial starts with the idea of risk and reward, expressed through playful and expressive artwork. At the center of the dial is a hand-painted, sharply dressed tycoon in a top hat, confidently spinning fortune’s wheel. In one moment, the letters spell RISK. With the next turn, they become RICH.
Flying bills and tumbling coins fill the dial, creating a sense of movement and excitement. The artwork captures the energy of bold decisions and big dreams, reminding us that life often rewards those who are willing to take a chance. It’s colorful, lighthearted, and intentionally fun.
One familiar element on the dial is the old, mustachioed gentleman inspired by the classic Monopoly game, a character many of us instantly recognize. That small detail adds a layer of nostalgia and connects the idea of risk and reward to something playful and timeless.
For me personally, this detail means a lot. When I was a kid, I used to play Monopoly all the time with my brother and other kids in the neighborhood, usually at our house. Those games were full of laughter, competition, and simple joy. That feeling of excitement with every move is something I still remember clearly today.
That personal connection is why this watch has become one of my favorites we’ve created.
The Watch Behind the Artwork – Bulova Super Seville
The Bulova Super Seville was chosen as the base for this project for good reason. Its TV-shaped stainless steel case, inspired by Bulova’s 1970s designs, adds a strong retro identity that pairs naturally with the playful dial art.
Inside the watch is Bulova’s Precisionist movement, operating at 262kHz. This high-frequency quartz movement delivers excellent accuracy and a smooth sweeping seconds hand that adds a subtle sense of motion to the dial.
The integrated stainless steel bracelet and coin-edge bezel complete the design, giving the watch a balanced mix of vintage character and modern performance.
